The Hooksieler depth is about 12 kilometer deep in the city of Jever and in the community Wangerland in the district of Friesland in the north of Lower Saxony .
The six to eleven meter wide watercourse in the Jeverland , through which the inland is drained and the inland water flows into the North Sea , begins at the Tettenser Tief in the northern area of Jever. The Hooksieler Tief passes under the L 812 and the B 210 and then flows in a north-easterly direction, east past Waddewarden . In the southern area of Hooksiel it flows into the Hooksieler Binnentief , which flows into the North Sea.
In earlier times the low was mainly used for drainage and as a traffic route, today it is also used for recreational sports such as paddling and fishing .
