length 12 km

The Tettenser depth is about 12 kilometer deep in the community Wangerland and in the city Jever in the district of Friesland in the north of Lower Saxony .

The watercourse in Jeverland , through which the inland is drained and the water ultimately flows into the North Sea , has its origin north of Neugarmssiel . There, the Tettenser Tief emerges from the confluence of the Sophientief and Friederikentief . It then flows further south through Altgarmssiel , gives off the Kopperburger Leide , flows east of Ziallerns and through Tettens , gives off the Crildumer Tief east of Wiefels and passes under the B 210 . Together with the Mühlentief flowing in from the west, it forms the Hooksieler Tief in the north of Jever, which continues to flow in an easterly direction .

In earlier times the low was mainly used for drainage and as a traffic route, today it is also used for recreational sports such as paddling and fishing .

Protection status

The section from Crildumer Tief to Mühlentief is part of the FFH area "Teichfledermaus- Habitate im Raum Wilhelmshaven" and the landscape protection area " Teichfledermausgewässer "
