Hope Crisp

Hope Crisp (born February 6, 1884 in London , † March 25, 1950 ibid) was a British tennis player .

Life

Crisp, who was born in Highgate, London in 1884 , studied at Cambridge University . From 1911 to 1914 he took part in tennis tournaments. In 1913 he won the first official mixed championship at the Wimbledon Championships together with Agnes Tuckey against Ethel Thomson and James Parke .

During the First World War , he was seriously wounded near Ypres in April 1915 , so that his leg had to be amputated. After the war he took part in tennis tournaments with a prosthetic leg. In 1919 he played at the side of Mrs. Perret in the mixed competition of Wimbledon, but already lost the first game.

He died in Roehampton, London in 1950 at the age of 66 .
