The stream rises between the villages of Birkenfeld and Hülscheid at an altitude of 215  m above sea level. NN . From here it flows in a southerly direction and passes the villages of Krawinkel , Oberhorbach and Niederhorbach on the heights on their eastern outskirts. About 800 m south of Niederhorbach the Horbacher Bach flows out at 98  m above sea level. NN in the Bröl .
