Peter and Paul is a comedic 14-part television series that was first broadcast on RTL in 1994 . The two main roles are played by Helmut Fischer and Hans Clarin .

The series is about the two mayors Peter Elfinger and Paul Schneck. These are mayors of the neighboring communities Hohenwaldau and Niederwaldau im Chiemgau . The two are related by marriage, Elfinger's sister Elisabeth is Schneck's wife. Both have known each other since childhood and are still in a checkered friend-foe relationship to this day. Although they basically like each other, they never miss an opportunity to wipe one out of the other with loving malice and malice, often on the pretext that it is for the good of the respective village.

The two places Hohenwaldau and Niederwaldau do not actually exist. The series was filmed in and around Samerberg, Törwang, Neubänen and Aschau im Chiemgau , which was also Clarin's adopted home. The name and composition of the series and the two main characters are based on the Catholic solemn festival Peter and Paul , which is celebrated on June 29th.
