distribution

The Hornstein ranking is available free of charge on the Internet. A printed version is available from the publisher for a nominal fee of currently 5 euros plus shipping costs.

Rating System

The ratings of the restaurant and hotel guides served as the basis for the ranking for the 2019 edition

The list is an uncommented, arithmetic cross-section through the restaurant and hotel reviews. They are recorded according to their evaluation criteria and broken down according to a 100 point system. The Michelin Guide rating is always taken into account. The worst rating of all other guides is deleted.

One, two or three crowns are awarded for restaurants. Restaurants with

  • 95-100 points get three crowns,
  • 90-94.9 points get two crowns,
  • below 90 points get a crown.

No differentiated ratings are given for hotels. The establishments rated the best by the guides are instead listed in alphabetical order, sorted by location. There is a list of the 85 best rated hotels in Germany as well as a list of 60 “selected” wellness hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol.
