Horses in the Sky is the fourth studio album by the Canadian post-rock band Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-la-la-band . This is the first "Silver Mt. Zion" album with every song on the album being sung. Every band member also sings along.
Overview
On the website of the band's record label, Constellation Records , the band described the album as 6 "strong 'waltzes' for World Wars 4 through 6". They also noted that "the first song is about war and drug addiction, the fourth song is about Canada, and the rest are love songs."
The album was released on record on March 7, 2005 in Europe and two weeks later on March 21 in North America. It was released on CD in Europe on March 21, 2005 and in North America on March 4, 2005. On page 4 of the double LP edition, a drawing by the artist Nadia Moss is engraved on the LP. Other drawings and collages come from Luc Paradis or the band itself.
Nina Simone and Theodore Roosevelt are mentioned in the lyrics and song titles of the album .
