"Born into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward." is the second album by the Canadian post-rock band Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band . It was released by Constellation Records in October 2001 .
overview
The title of the album most likely comes from the book Job : Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upwards . In the German translation it says: Man is born to hardship / like sparks of fire that soar. The song "This Gentle Hearts Like Shot Bird's Fallen" was used at the beginning of the film Snow Angels by David Gordon Green .
There are twice as many members on the album as on the debut in 2000 - this is probably also the reason why the name was extended. 4 of the songs are with vocals - this is also a significant difference to the previous one, where there was only one song ( Movie (Never Made) ) with vocals.
Reviews
Thom Yurek from allmusic wrote: "The music on Born into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward is of breathtaking beauty and ghostly expression" and gave the record 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Brad Haywood wrote at Pitchfork Media : "For the most part, Born into Trouble remains an intense and enchanting album", but also criticized the presumption of the album and in particular the song Built then Burnt [Hurray! Hurray!] . Nevertheless, he awarded 7.7 out of 10 points to the plate.
