Horst-Udo Ahlers

Horst-Udo Ahlers (born July 22, 1939 in Oldenburg ) was Police President of the Braunschweig Police Department from August 26, 1994 to July 22, 2004 and Deputy Federal Chairman of the Police Union from 1986 to 1998 .

Horst-Udo Ahlers joined the Lower Saxony police on April 1, 1958 after completing his secondary school leaving certificate and completing a commercial apprenticeship . After that, he served with the riot police in Braunschweig . He joined the police union (GdP) in March 1959. After several uses in the protection and criminal investigation in Braunschweig, he ran for the GdP in various staff council elections . From this time he was a full-time member of the staff council. From 1979 to 1984 he was chairman of the main staff council at the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior in Hanover. In 1981 he was elected GdP state chairman in Lower Saxony.

Ahlers has been a member of the SPD since 1980 . For his services, he was awarded the First Class Cross of Merit of Lower Saxony by the then Interior Minister Gerhard Glogowski .
