Horst Blanck

Horst Blanck (born November 14, 1936 in Krefeld , † March 31, 2010 in Cerveteri ) was a German classical archaeologist .

Horst Blanck studied Classical Archeology , Ancient History , Classical Philology and Prehistory and Early History at the University of Cologne . There he was in 1963 Tobias Dohrn with the dissertation reuse of old statues as honorary monuments in Greek and Roman doctorate . In 1964/65 he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . He then completed his training as a scientific librarian and was head of the library of the Rome department of the German Archaeological Institute until his retirement in 2001 . After that Horst Blanck lived in Cerveteri near Rome. He was married to the archaeologist Fritzi Jurgeit Blanck .

His main areas of research were Etruscology and the history of classical archeology.
