Horst Dreyer

Horst Christian Albert Dreyer (born May 21, 1928 in Lübeck ; † October 27, 2019 ) was a German Protestant clergyman . The Eutin provost became known to a larger audience through numerous radio devotions in northern Germany .

Life

The civil servant's son studied in Kiel and Göttingen . In 1953 he was in Kiel with a dissertation in Old Testament Dr. theol. PhD. In the same year he married; the second theological exam he took a year later in Lübeck. After a vicariate and a time as assistant preacher in the parish of St. Aegidien , he was ordained here in 1954 ; the following year he received one of the parish posts at St. Aegidien.

From 1957 Dreyer was pastor for many years at the St. Andreas Church in Lübeck- Schlutup . Dreyer recognized the importance of " Low German in the Church" through his work in the community, which was then mainly characterized by fishing .

From 1963, the evangelical clergyman regularly preached on the radio in both High German and Low German in addition to community work.

In 1971 Dreyer went to Westerland as a pastor for a few years , from 1978 he was provost in Eutin . He was also a member of the Lübeck Synod and commissioner for Protestant academy work.

He has published publications such as The Question of God (1986) on church topics. Some of his Westerland sermons have been published in book form. A record of Plattdütsche devotions , reviewed by himself, was released in 1981.
