Horst Lüning

Horst Lüning (born December 28, 1957 ) is a German mechanical engineer, entrepreneur and operator of video blogs dedicated to the mail order business with whiskey and current topics from business, politics and society.

Life

Lüning passed his pre-diploma examination in mechanical engineering at the TH Darmstadt and switched to the main course in aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Munich . He completed his studies as a mechanical engineer with a diploma thesis on the topic of strength theory in aircraft construction , which was published in 1982 by the United Flight Technical Works in Bremen. After graduating, he worked in power plant technology, automotive development and finally in the IT industry.

Since 1999 he has been Marketing and IT Manager of the company Whisky.com Media GmbH and Whisky.de GmbH & Co. KG in Seeshaupt on Lake Starnberg, which specializes in the online shipment of whiskey and information about whiskey and was founded by his wife in 1993 .

Lüning regularly publishes its own whiskey tastings on the Whisky.de channel . The channel has existed since November 2007, contained more than 2,400 videos in June 2020 and had over 57,000 subscribers and over 36 million video views. (As of June 2020). In 2014 Lüning bought the most expensive domain of the year, whisky.com, from Castello Cities Internet Network for $ 3.1 million , which he has been operating ever since. Tasting videos are produced in English for this channel. The channel made over 1,600 videos available in 2020, had over 68,000 subscribers and around 15 million video views (as of June 2020). Like the domain of the same name, the channel is called whisky.com .

SubBlog

In addition, Lüning operates the video blog “UnterBlog” with various topics. The channel had about 130,000 subscribers and 41 million video views as of April 2020.

Tesla

In June 2016, Lüning and his team covered 2,424 km in a Tesla Model S within 24 hours, setting the world record for the most kilometers driven purely electrically, including recharging, within 24 hours. The record lasted until 2018.
