Horst Ludwig Eduard Langemann (born May 6, 1928 in Hanover ; † January 15, 2011 ) was a German chemist and university professor .

Life

Horst Langemann attended the Bismarck High School in Hanover. From January to May 1944 he was an air force helper . In February 1947 he graduated from high school. After attending the higher commercial school in Hanover for six months , he first studied mathematics at the Technical University of Hanover from the winter semester of 1947 to the summer semester of 1949 . In the winter semester of 1949 he began studying chemistry . In the winter semester of 1952, he became a member of the Corps Baltica-Borussia . In the winter semester of 1955, he graduated as a chemist .

At the beginning of 1956 he followed Franz Patat as a research assistant at the Institute for Technical Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich . In September 1958 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD and became a research assistant at Parlat. In June 1959 he switched to Herbert Kölbel at the Institute for Technical Chemistry at the Technical University of Berlin as a research assistant . In December 1961 he became senior research assistant there. After his habilitation in February 1970, he became a Scientific Councilor and Professor of Technical Chemistry. In mid-1971 he became chairman of the department. In 1972 he was appointed professor of technical chemistry at the University of Paderborn , where he was vice rector of the first founding rectorate until the end of 1974. In this role he chaired the Research Commission. In 1992 he retired.

In his early scientific work, Langemann was particularly concerned with the physical and chemical processes involved in grinding . Later he worked on the determination and modeling of the physico-chemical processes in bubble column reactors . His research results found their way into standard works such as Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry .
