Horst Pöchhacker

Horst Pöchhacker (born November 16, 1938 in Vienna ; †  August 13, 2014 ) was an Austrian civil engineer and manager. Pöchhacker was General Director of Porr and then Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ASFINAG .

Life

After graduating from high school, he began studying civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology in 1956 , which he completed in 1962 with a graduate degree in engineering. He then joined the Porr construction group as site manager in 1962 and worked, among other things, on the construction site of the Tauern tunnel . Pöchhacker was also deployed several times as a site manager in crisis areas, including in Iran . In 1976 he became a member of the board and was a member of the Porr board for 30 years, including from 1982 to 2007 as chairman of the board and general director .

From 2007 until his death he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ASFINAG.

Pöchhacker was married and had a son and a daughter and had two grandchildren.
