Horst Planert

Horst Planert (born March 30, 1927 in Erfurt ; † May 1, 2012 in Saarbrücken ) was a German swimming coach.

Life

Planert began his coaching activities in 1955 as a regional coach for the Saarland Swimming Association and was known for his training methods, which were unusual at the time.

He was a member of the coaching council of the German Swimming Association and later an honorary member of the German Swimming Coach Association. In 1965 he became the national coach of the German Swimming Association. Planert was technical director and trainer at the Max Ritter swimming school in Saarbrücken, which was founded in 1969. In 1980 he became head coach of the German Swimming Association. 1992 he retired.

During his career he trained Klaus Steinbach , Dagmar Rehak , Silke Pielen , Gudrun Beckmann , Karin Bormann , Jürgen Könneker , Rolf Klees and Angela Steinbach , who set numerous records and won medals at European, World Championships and Olympic Games.
