Horst Sassin

Horst R. Sassin (* 1953 in Regensburg ) is a German historian and educator .

Sassin completed a teaching degree in history and German studies at the University of Cologne from 1974 to 1978 . He then worked as a teacher at the Schwertstrasse grammar school in Solingen . In 1991 he received his doctorate from Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . In 1991 he received the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Prize for his dissertation . In 1992 he won the Carl von Ossietzky Prize for Contemporary History and Politics from the City of Oldenburg .

His main research interests are the history of the Bergisches Land and the resistance to National Socialism .
