Horst Scholtz

Horst Scholtz (born June 24, 1924 in Cosel ; † February 7, 2013 ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1965 to 1973 he was State Secretary in the GDR .

Life

Scholtz became a technical draftsman in Brandenburg an der Havel after attending primary school . On September 1, 1942, he joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP).

After the Second World War he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He qualified as an engineer and became an economic functionary. On June 2, 1957, he was one of the founders of the General German Motorsport Association (ADMV) in East Berlin .

From 1958 to 1960 he was deputy head of the general mechanical engineering department of the State Planning Commission and from 1961 to 1965 chief director of VVB Mechanik Leipzig. From March 25, 1965, he acted as State Secretary and 1st Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Internal German Trade and Foreign Trade and, from 1967, of the Ministry of Foreign Trade. From 1969 to October 1973 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Processing Machinery and Vehicle Construction. On July 13, 1972 he was appointed by the GDR Council of Ministers as a member of the Council for Agriculture and Food Industry (RLN). From 1973 to September 1975 he was Deputy Minister for General Machinery, Agricultural Machinery and Vehicle Construction.

In 1991 he was elected to the new ADMV Presidium as Vice President. Scholtz died at the age of 88.
