Horst Thiele

Horst Thiele (born September 8, 1952 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2009 to 2014 he was the full-time mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Hilden .

Life

In 1963 Horst Thiele came to Hilden with his parents, where he began training with the Hilden city administration in 1969. He obtained the title of Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH). In January 1982 he became head of the city treasury. At the end of 1987 he took over the management of the youth welfare office. On September 27, 1995 he was elected 1st alderman . From November 1995 to the end of 2008 he was a treasurer , his re-election took place in 2003. His long-standing commitment to relations with Warrington recognized the English twin town of Hildens in October 2006 with his appointment as an honorary citizen. On August 1, 2008, he took over the building department.

Horst Thiele is married and has four children.

Mayor's office

After long-time mayor Günter Scheib (SPD) did not run for the 2009 election after 15 years in office, the SPD nominated Horst Thiele as a candidate for mayor. He won the election with 46.4 percent of the valid votes (compared to 26.1 percent for the CDU candidate, 17.6 percent for the FDP candidate and 10.0 percent for the candidate of the Hilden citizens' action (BA)) in one Turnout of 52.3 percent. On October 21, Thiele took office as mayor, and was sworn in on October 28. In 2013, Horst Thiele decided to end his term of office after the municipal elections in 2014. His last day of service as mayor was June 23, 2014.

In the North Rhine-Westphalia City and Municipal Association , Horst Thiele was a member of the Mittelstadt working group as well as the Committee for Environment and Consumer Protection and the Committee for Finance and Local Services. Horst Thiele was deputy of the first deputy of the city of Detmold , Hartmut Benkmann, in the committee for finance and communal management of the German Association of Cities and Towns .
