Hotel school
Hotel schools are continuing education institutions with the specification on the hospitality , hotel and catering trade . They are not to be confused with state-recognized hotel management schools . Hotel schools, on the other hand, can be recognized in the form of AZWV carrier certifications, which are mandatory as a prerequisite for financial support for training and further education by the consortium or the employment agency .
At hotel schools u. a. modular training courses, IHK advancement training courses, special training courses and retraining of the hospitality professions are offered.

The prerequisite for acquiring an IHK qualification as part of advanced training at a hotel school is a gastronomic qualification and subsequent several years of professional experience or without a professional qualification but with many years of professional experience. The participant learns special knowledge that is not offered in any independent advancement or further training. The training courses can be financed through education vouchers if they are AZWV- certified courses.
Modular training at the hotel school
They serve to consolidate and expand knowledge in the catering industry and do not include a professional qualification. They are intended to make it easier for the participant to return to the job market . The hotel school offers the participants qualification according to defined modules. They are financed by the Arge and Agentur für Arbeit through education vouchers and must be certified by the AZWV hotel school . Modular training courses are offered in the kitchen, restaurant and housekeeping.

Financial funding opportunities
Training and advancement training must always be financed by the participants themselves.
Participants can take advantage of the following funding opportunities:
- Selected hotel schools accept vouchers for the education bonus, with which 50% of the further training costs and up to € 500 per year can be funded by the BMBF .
- If the training has been certified by the AZWV hotel school , it fulfills the formal requirements for financial support from the Employment Agency via an education voucher .
- Further training in kitchen technology can be funded by the Walter- and Margarethe-Müller Foundation , Hamburg, for committed and permanent chefs on application. Applications for funding are generally to be submitted by the participant himself. A grant will be decided on a case-by-case basis. There is no legal entitlement to funding.
