Robin and Barney have been together all summer now, but unfortunately they don't want to admit that. Lily tries to explain to the two that you have to define your relationship and Lily locks them up one morning in the bedroom. She forces Robin and Barney to talk about their relationship. Meanwhile, Ted is giving his first lecture at the university where he now has a new job as a professor. Only after his lecture does he notice that he is in the wrong lecture hall. Finally, Robin and Barney claim to have talked to each other. However, they lied to Lily and the two of them say they are now in a committed relationship. Lily lets them out, but knows that they lied, but says that neither of them knew that they were actually telling the truth.

Barney takes Marshall to a strip club, where they both discover a dancer who is Lily's doppelganger. Lily is excited, but Robin is angry because Barney was in the club. Ted and the woman decide to both wait for someone to like each other's quirks.

Finally, Robin and Barney apologize to Lily and Marshall. Teds meets a woman in the bar and his time as a sexless host ends.

During a stopover, Lily falls asleep in the hotel, Ted and Marshall just drive on without her. Robin gets drunk and wakes up in Canada, where Barney finds her. There she realizes that she is no longer Canadian either and decides to take both citizenships. Ted and Marshall return to Lily, who slept the whole time and didn't notice anything.

After Lily and her father have reconciled, a friendly argument breaks out between Robin, Ted, Lily, their father and Marshall about who can slap Barney.

Ted and Barney get drunk together, fight and finally stand in front of Robin's house together to win her back. Robin decides to move in with Don and to distance himself from the group for him. Lily and Marshall notice that a bed together is better. Without saying goodbye, Robin moves out of Ted's house and leaves the blue horn behind.
