| Robin no longer pays attention to her appearance as she is not over Don. It turns out that Marshall's father knows that he and Lily are about to have a child. Lily is pissed off that Marshall talked about it with his father and also with his work colleagues. Ted and Barney both want to conquer a woman in the bar who, it turns out, is in a relationship with Ted's ex-girlfriend Cindy. Robin tries to prove to Barney and Ted that she is still attractive, changes clothes and is approached, which Robin sees as proof that she is still "hot". | Barney's mother is selling her house. He, Marshall, Lily, Robin, Ted and Barney's brother James help with the move. Meanwhile, Robin tries to bring Ted together with one of her friends and describes him in a text message. Barney and James find an unsent letter that was apparently addressed to one of their fathers. You and your friends drive to the address given. While driving, Robin accidentally sends an amusement text message to all of her contacts. In the end, it turns out that the recipient of the letter is James' father, even if Barney doesn't seem to see this. | Ted learns which house is to be demolished for the new construction of the main building of the GNB. During a tour of the building, he meets the activist Zoey, who is committed to preserving the building, so Ted doesn't dare to tell her about his job. Ted falls in love with her and promises to work to preserve the building. But she finds out who Ted is and doesn't want to know anything more about him. Eventually Ted notices that Zoey is married to all of this. Ted has to admit that he bent over backwards for Zoey and that he wasn't really interested in maintaining the building. Marshall learns that Lily and Robin are having conversations about their sex lives. Since then he has had problems with Lily in bed, fearing that any wrongdoing would be passed on directly to Robin. | ||||||||

Ted starts a relationship with her, which is not called Robin good. The friends wonder why many men find it attractive when women are childlike, but the reverse is not the case, whereupon Barney tries to prove otherwise. When Lily and Marshall try to conceive their baby, they both accept hints from the Internet and from Marshall's father, which should help conceive a girl and a boy, but in the end they don't care what gender their baby will be . | The GNB shoots a commercial to improve its image, only Marshall refuses to play. Robin is hiding something - it turns out she shot a commercial for adult diapers. Zoey attends Ted's lecture and makes him unpopular with his students. Marshall fires Randy, an incompetent employee, but feels guilty about it and, to his displeasure, hires him again because he wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream with the severance payment. In the end, he realizes that if he leaves his ideal of never firing anyone again, he helps Randy the most, and he fires Randy. | ||||||||

| The friends go to the Natural History Museum's fall reception. Zoey and her husband, the captain, are also there. Barney and Robin outdo each other at unauthorized handling of exhibits until they are caught. It turns out that Barney was up to mischief in the museum as a child and that his supposed uncle signed the papers as his father back then (so Barney finally knows who his father is). Marshall considers continuing to work for GNB, which Lily is disappointed with. Ted admits to Zoey that he also loves the Arcadian, which she records. | Barney found another video of Robin Sparkles showing her in a children's series. When asked about the series, the others learn that Jessica Glitter, Robin's series partner, was once her best friend until she became pregnant. Lily then believes that Robin will end her friendship as soon as she and Marshall are expecting a child. Marshall brings Lily to Jessica Glitter. Here Lily learns that it was not Robin who terminated Jessica's friendship, but the other way around, because Jessica only wanted to take care of her child. Remorseful, Lily returns to Robin and promises her that she will always come second after the child, if it should come. | ||||||||

| It's Ted's first Thanksgiving as the host. But the night before, unbelievable things happened because he left too early and thus has the curse of "lightning". At the party, Ted's oven was destroyed, which is why they drive to Zoey, since none of the friends has an oven. Because Barney takes another taxi on the way to Zoey, he is the new Blitz. At Zoey's home, she argues with Ted all the time. When he says she is Cinderella's evil stepmother as a cartoon character, Zoey throws her out of the apartment. Lily is mean to Barney and they argue, but old Ted forgot why. When everyone meets up and tells the others about their decisions, Ted goes crazy and gets Robin to take the job at the news agency, Barney to sell his suit and sends Lily and Marshall to bed to father a child. | ||||||||

| Lily doesn't get pregnant, so she turns to a specialist. To Lily's uncertainty, this is Barney's doppelganger. But when Marshall tries to call his father and tell him about it, Lily brings him bad news: Marshall's father has died of a heart attack.

Since she is married, Ted ends the friendship by telling Zoey that Lily doesn't like her. She puts the blame on Robin and Robin on Marshall. He finds out through a phone call with Honey that Zoey and her husband are getting a divorce - and Zoey is also in love with Ted. When Barney does undergo the examination, Lily finds out via a heart monitor that Barney is lying to Nora that he wants to get married and have children. But it's too late because he has already confessed to Nora. Since Marshall calls Robin lonely, Robin takes the next best man as a new friend she runs into. This behaves like a dog. | ||||||||

Meanwhile, Barney becomes jealous because his younger half-brother Jerome Junior is named after his father. Then he goes out of the house and wants to unscrew the basketball hoop that hangs over the garage. Jerry helps him with this. Later at Ted's house, contrary to his previous suggestions to put stripper poles on the terrace, he says that the basket should rather hang there. | After Marshall resigned, he applied to an environmental organization. He does not get the job through the influence of his former boss. | Marshall and Ted must bring reasons for or against the demolition of the Arcadian to the Landmark Preservation Committee (LPC). Since his girlfriend Zoey is against a demolition, Ted considers making the same of himself. If he did, he and Barney would lose their jobs at GNB. That's why he's in favor of demolition. However, Zoey plays a tape recording in which he claims the opposite. Everyone is convinced that the LPC will decide against the demolition. Therefore, Lily suggests that the lion's head on the building that is considered the most important by the LPC should be stolen. In return for this plan, Ted and Barney should be allowed to keep their jobs. Without the lion head, the LPC decides to demolish it the next day. | ||||||||

| Barney and Ted argue about which of them can push the button to blow up the Arcadian. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Ted's ex-girlfriend Zoey wants to meet him, but he decides against it. Lily buys her favorite soup for herself and Marshall, and after dinner she apparently falls ill with food poisoning. Marshall, who also ate the soup, expects the same. That's why he leaves an interview early. The next day the Arcadian is to be blown up. Barney lets Ted do the blasting. It is learned that Lily is pregnant and has not had food poisoning. After the demolition with Robin, Barney meets Nora, an ex-girlfriend, and asks her if she would like to go out with him again, which she affirms. The camera briefly shows the sad Robin. A look into the future shows that Barney will get married. | ||||||||
