Howard Jacobson

Howard Jacobson (born August 25, 1942 in Manchester ) is a British writer and journalist . He is also a moderator , eg for Channel 4 and the op-ed - columnist for The Independent operates.

Life

Jacobson, who comes from a Jewish family, feels connected to certain Jewish traditions and the history of the Jews, but does not attend a synagogue. He studied at Downing College in Cambridge , then went to Sydney University for a three-year teaching post . He then worked as a professor at Selwyn College , Cambridge.

Awards

Howard Jacobson received the Booker Prize in 2010 for his novel The Finkler Question, the most important British literary prize, on whose longlist he had appeared twice in previous years (2002 with Who's Sorry Now? And 2006 with Kalooki Nights ). Jacobson is one of the oldest Booker Prize recipients.
