Hrabowez (Ukrainian Грабовець ; Russian Грабовец / Grabowez , Polish Grabowiec Stryjski ) is a village in the Ukrainian Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine with about 1100 inhabitants.

The village is located in the west of the historical landscape of Galicia in the Stryj district , about 4 kilometers southwest of the Stryj district center and 69 kilometers southwest of the Lviv oblast center.

On August 11, 2015, the village became the center of the newly established rural community Hrabowez (Грабовецька сільська громада / Hrabowezka silska hromada ) to this are also the five villages Dowholuka (Довголука) Kolodnyzja (Колодниця) Konjuchiw (Конюхів) Monastyrez ( Монастирець) and Volja-Dowholuzka (Воля-Довголуцька), until then it formed the district council of Hrabowez .

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1693, was initially in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania , Ruthenian Voivodeship , and came in 1772 as Grabowice (later Grabowiec ) to what was then the Austrian crown land of Galicia (until 1918 in the Stryj district ).

After the end of the First World War he came to Poland , was here from 1921 as Grabowiec Stryjski in the voivodeship Stanislau , Powiat Stryj , Gmina Grabowiec Stryjski and was only occupied by the Soviet Union during the Second World War and from 1941 to 1944 by Germany and the district Galicia attached. After being reconquered by Soviet troops in 1944, it came back to the Soviet Union in 1945 and was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR , since 1991 the place has been part of today's Ukraine.
