The Huberfelsen is a rock ( 759.9 m above sea level ) in the Central Black Forest and a natural monument .
geography
The Huber rock lies on a ridge in the Middle Black Forest between Elztal in the west, near the district of Oberprechtal -Wittenbach and the Valley of Gutach in the east. It is located exactly at the junction of the district of Emmendingen and the Ortenau district in the Gutach community , about 3.5 kilometers from the Landwasserck on the L 107. The Prechtaler Schanze-Ecklesberg nature reserve still includes this natural monument on its eastern edge.
Natural monument
The granite rock was designated as an extensive natural monument by ordinance on August 29, 1963 and is listed under the protected area number 83170390001 at the Freiburg Regional Council. It is also protected as a geotope .
history
Originally the rock was called "Spitzer-Stein". In August 1902 it became a memorial in honor of the former Obervogts Theodor Huber . Since then, a small plaque on the rock has been pointing to the namesake. In 2004 the railing was adapted to new safety standards.
Tourism
The rock is touched by three long-distance hiking trails of the Black Forest Association , the Westweg , the Schwarzwald-Querweg Rottweil-Lahr and the Zweälersteig . The rock, which looks like a ship's bow with its railing, can be climbed and offers a panoramic view, for example, of the upper Elztal (Oberprechtal) and the Gutach valley near Hornberg . There are several seats below, at the foot and along the path.
