Bridge Island Meadows is an 80 acres (32.4 hectare ), inaccessible nature reserve near Millis in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is located in a floodplain of the Charles River and is managed by The Trustees of Reservations .
Protected area
The area was given to the trustees in 1974 by Dr. and Mrs. John D. Constable as a gift. It is located on the southeastern bank of South End Pond and is only accessible by canoe or kayak across Bogastow Brook . Since this only carries water irregularly, the appropriate time must be timed. The river is densely overgrown with vegetation and therefore difficult to navigate even with a boat.
Once the Bogastow Brook has been overcome, a short walk takes you to a 130 ft (39.6 m ) high tree-covered hill from which you can enjoy a good view of the surrounding area. However, since there are no paths, hikers have to fight their way through the dense vegetation. Landing by canoe or kayak is already a major challenge due to the dense vegetation.
