history

The Baker family ran a small farm here from 1939 until the 1970s. Polly Baker made sure that the land was conserved after the operation was closed. When she died in 2002 at the age of 94, she transferred the property and the structures on it to the Trustees of Reservations as part of her inheritance, which is why the reserve was originally named Baker Reservation . Further sub-areas followed in 2004 through donations from the Baker family, after which the area was renamed Cedariver .
