Peters Reservation is a 97  acres (39.3  hectare ) nature reserve near Dover in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is managed by The Trustees of Reservations organization.

Protected area

The reserve was named after a family who bought the property as a retreat in 1917. It is densely overgrown with oak and hickory trees. The hiking trails and undergrowth plants were created by landscape architect Fletcher Steele . The area is bounded on one side by the Charles River , on the banks of which American red pines have been planted. The 2.5  mi (4  km ) hiking trails connect to the neighboring Chase Woodlands reserve and lead, among other things, through a large plantation of rhododendrons .

The reserve was established in 1988 and last expanded in 1996.
