Shattuck Reservation is a 245 acre (1 km² ) nature reserve near the city of Medfield in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is managed by The Trustees of Reservations organization.
Protected area
The reserve was named after its founder, Henry L. Shattuck, who owned part of what is now the entire property and gave it to the trustees in 1970. In 1978 and 1989, the trustees were given more properties to supplement the protected area, and in 1993 the organization acquired the last part.
The area is in close proximity to the Medfield Rhododendron Reservation and in close proximity to Noon Hill . The reserve consists mainly of oak and pine forests , which have recaptured the areas that were once used as pasture and arable land. A 1.5 mi (2.4 km ) circular trail is available for visitors.
