biography

After graduating from high school and participating in the First World War, he completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Rudolf Mosse publishing house in Berlin. In 1923 he moved to the Richard Kahn Group . There he became an authorized officer and director. From 1926 to 1972 he worked on the board of the Schnellpressenfabrik AG Heidelberg . From May 1945 to February 1949 he was President of the Heidelberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry . In 1949 he organized the first German export exhibition in New York after the Second World War. As a co-founder of the international printing and paper trade fair (drupa) in Düsseldorf, he was its president from 1951 to 1967 and president of the trade fair committee until 1972.

Merits

In the 1920s, he had “ Original Heidelberger Tiegel ” presses ready for printing installed on demonstration vehicles and presented them to print shops. In the 1930s, such demonstration cars were on the road around the world. The idea of marketing the advanced technology in this way helps the Schnellpressenfabrik Heidelberg to achieve significant growth.

In 1956, Hubert HA Sternberg bought a 38 hectare meadow area in Wiesloch on the Heidelberg-Bruchsal railway line, on which crude oil was still being produced, as a member of the board of the Schnellpressenfabrik Heidelberg . This decision secured extensive reserve land for large investment projects in the decades that followed.

While he was on the management board of the printing press manufacturer, the number of employees rose from around 300 (1926) to 3,520 (Heidelberg Group 1957). Sales had increased a hundredfold. In 2007 alone, 6,500 employees at the Wiesloch-Walldorf plant assemble 65 printing units a day. (2007 Heidelberg total: approx. 19,000 employees)
