Hugh McKittrick Jones (born November 10, 1880 in St. Louis , Missouri , † May 1, 1960 in Madison (Wisconsin) , Wisconsin ) was an American tennis player .

biography

Jones competed in tennis at the 1904 St. Louis Summer Olympics. In the singles he won after a bye against Andrew Drew 6: 4, 6: 1, before failing in the round of 16 to Semp Russ , who defeated him 6: 1, 6: 2. He also competed in doubles with Harold Kauffman . The two won their first game against Frederick Semple and George Stadel . In the second round they were eliminated from Joseph Wear and Allen West . Beyond the Olympics, Jones only appears on the entry list of the US Open in 1897 , where he withdrew before his first match. In his home country he was also known as a very good golfer.
