Hugh Riminton (* 1961 in Sri Lanka ) is a New Zealand journalist and television presenter . Riminton is best known for hosting CNN's main news program , "CNN Today".

Live and act

Riminton grew up in New Zealand. He began his journalistic career in 1978 in Christchurch. In 1983 he moved to Australia , where he worked for the Macquarie Radio Network in Perth and Melbourne . At Macquarie University in Sydney , he obtained a master's degree in "Peacekeeping Policy" (for example, "Peacekeeping Policy").

In 1989 Riminton took a job at the Australian television station Australian Nine Network, whose foreign correspondent in London he became in 1991. In 2001, Riminton, who has reported journalistic coverage from more than 30 countries, became the presenter of Channel Nine's evening news program "Nightline".

In 2004 he switched to CNN, where he reported on the 2004 tsunami disaster from Sri Lanka, among other places .

Awards

Over the years, Riminton has received various awards for his work, including the Logie Award (1996) for reporting on the independence movement in Tahiti and the Walkley Award for reporting on the Fiji coup in 2000. He received other nominations for this award 1998, 1999 and 2003 for his reports from Papua New Guinea , Kosovo , South Sudan and Iraq .
