Hugh Thornton (* 28. June 1991 in Boise , Idaho ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the Guards . He was a total of four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL under contract. In 2019 he played for the Arizona Hotshots in the short-lived Alliance of American Football (AAF).

Early years

Thornton went to high school in Oberlin , Ohio . He later went to the University of Illinois , where he played for the college football team between 2009 and 2012 .

NFL

Indianapolis Colts

In the 2013 NFL Draft , Thornton was selected in the third round in 86th place by the Indianapolis Colts . He began the 2013 season as a backup in the position of Guard behind Mike McGlynn and Donald Thomas . After Thomas injured himself on the second day of the season, Thornton took over his position for the rest of the season. In his second season Thornton played ten games, eight of them as a starter. In 2015 Thornton was placed on the Injured Reserve List on December 28th . In 2016 , he couldn't play a single game due to an injury.

Atlanta Falcons

On March 21, 2017, Thornton signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons . On May 9, 2017, Thornton announced that he wanted to end his career.

AAF

In 2019, he revised his resignation and signed a contract with the Arizona Hotshots in the newly formed Alliance of American Football (AAF). For financial reasons, however, the league was stopped after the eighth game day. Thornton then returned to the NFL.

Return to the NFL

He signed a contract with the Washington Redskins on July 31, 2019 . As part of the squad reduction to 53 players, he was dismissed before the start of the season.

Personal

When Thornton was twelve years old, his mother and sister were murdered by his mother's ex-boyfriend.
