Hughie Flint

Hughie Flint (born March 15, 1941 in Manchester , Lancashire ) is an English drummer who has played with various English blues groups .

Life

Hughie Flint was born in Manchester and began playing drums at the age of 9. Flint first met John Mayall when he was teaching music at a local youth club and flinting his love for the blues. In the spring of 1964, Flint was a drummer for John Mayall's Bluesbreakers , with whom he played until 1969.

In 1970 he founded with former guitarist of Manfred Mann , Tom McGuinness , the band McGuinness Flint , with When I'm Dead and Gone reached the second place in the UK charts. After the failure of the second long-playing record , the group was reshuffled several times and recorded a few more albums, but it was not finally dissolved until 1975.

In 1979 he was a founding member of The Blues Band , along with Dave Kelly , Paul Jones , Gary Fletcher and Tom McGuinness. After the release of Itchy Feet , he left the band and also turned his back on the music business.

In the late 1980s, he appeared in the documentary Rock Family Trees to talk about Mayall's Bluesbreakers and their various offshoots. A BBC documentary reported in 1995 that he was now working as a doorman at Oxford University .
