(Arthur Richard) Hugo Helfritz , also: Hugo (Arthur Richard) Helfritz (born August 19, 1827 in Iven , † July 4, 1896 in Greifswald ) was Mayor of Greifswald and Prussian politician.

Life

Helfritz was a son of the Iven landlord and bailiff Fritz Helfritz and his wife Antonia Cäcilie Franziska, geb. Dornstein (born November 22, 1801 in Inowrocław , † September 3, 1851 in Iven).

As Senator of the city of Greifswald, he initiated the establishment of the city ​​fire brigade in 1875 . In 1878 he was appointed mayor of Greifswald and a member of the Prussian manor house for life.

Hugo Helfritz was married to Sophie (Adelaide) Beseler (1840–1921), daughter of the lawyer Georg Beseler , since 1865 . The legal scholar Hans Helfritz (1877-1958) was his son.

Hugo Helfritz's grave is in the Greifswald old cemetery . A street in Greifswald is named after him.
