history

Iven was first mentioned in a document by his current name in 1567. The name was spelled with ..w .. only twice. Despite the apparently German spelling of the name, the place is said to be a Slavic foundation with the name meaning "Bachweiden".

In the municipality southeast of Iven a deserted Cobrow (also Kobrow) is recorded. The place is also mentioned in the registers from 1567, but has already been described as desolate and is now only handed down in field names.

Iven is an anger village in terms of its layout, and an estate and church village in terms of its function. Two stables have been preserved from the manor buildings, made of field stone in the basement and brick on the upper floor. Count Felix Friedrich von Flemming (1661–1738), judge at the Wismar Tribunal, hereditary land marshal in Pomerania, was enfeoffed in 1697 with the estate, which until then had been a Schwerin fief. It then came to his son Ernst Bogislaus von Flemming .

The church in Iven is a boulder building with a hipped roof that was built in the 17th century. It was built on the foundations and remains of the walls of the original medieval church. It has an integrated transverse rectangular west tower. He is made of wood and wears a sturdy, overhanging octagonal helmet. The windows of the church are small, closed with very flat arches and set high. The chapels, which were added on the north and south sides, are kept simple.

A special feature of Iven are the 5 small bowl stones located in the eastern forest area and registered as a ground monument.

Flemmingsfelde (desert)

In the past, a district of Flemmingsfelde was recorded near Iven . In 1835 the place was still described as belonging to Iven, but in 1865 at Berghaus as an independent village of Flemmingsfelde. The name was chosen analogously to the owner name of the estate Iven - the von Flemming family. Also in the measuring table sheets 1880 or 1920, the place is recorded as an independent work as an advance to the manor Iven. When exactly the place became desolate is still unclear, but probably in the GDR times of the 1970s, when small settlements, remote farms and field margins were eliminated during the industrialization of agriculture.

At Flemmingsfelde, the "wealth of stones" is striking, with a large stone grave in the southwest, the many elongated stone bars and many collections of reading stones.
