history
square
The village of Viereck was founded by 10 settler families from the Palatinate in 1748 following an appeal by Frederick the Great . Of the numerous Palatinate colonies founded in Pomerania and Brandenburg at that time, only Viereck, the double colony Wilhelmine - Coccejendorf and Hoppenwalde have survived to the present day. Only in Viereck is the Palatine dialect, known as "Vierecksch", spoken to this day.
The place initially called "Jägersberg" was renamed in 1751 in honor of the state minister responsible for the colonists, Adam Otto von Viereck . Some among are in Viereck from the founding period listed building houses standing condition.
The place Viereck is 7 km north of Pasewalk .
