Brietzig is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It belongs to the Uecker-Randow-Tal office , which is managed by the city administration in Pasewalk .

geography

Brietzig is located on the state border with Brandenburg , seven kilometers southwest of Pasewalk and one kilometer west of the Uecker in a slightly hilly area.

Brietzig is surrounded by the neighboring communities Schönwalde and Papendorf in the north, Rollwitz in the east and Uckerland in the south and west.

The Starkshof district belongs to Brietzig.

history

On July 25, 1952, Brietzig was detached from the Brandenburg district of Prenzlau together with other communities and assigned to the Pasewalk district in the Neubrandenburg district .

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE BRIETZIG * LANDKREIS VORPOMMERN-GREIFSWALD".

Attractions

  • The place is characterized by its old building fabric.
  • The village church in Brietzig is a rectangular field stone building from the 13th century. The brick west tower was added in 1865 and the interior was renewed in 1730. It was banned for years because of dilapidation. After an emergency safety program on the roof and the nave , extensive repair work began in 2001.

To the north of the community, the Baltic Sea A 20 with the slip road "Pasewalk-Nord" and the federal road 104 ( Pasewalk - Neubrandenburg ) pass.
