history
All districts of the municipality (except for the desert) have their own articles → see there.
- Fischerhaus Kagenow (desert)
The fisherman's house in the district of Kagenow an der Peene has been known since at least 1835 (according to PUM = Preuss. Urmeßtischblatt) on the road (formerly overland) Kagenow - Gützkower ferry. As it was very remote from the town of Kagenow, it was given its own place name as the “fisherman's house”.
The gravel dredger lake was created there in 1940 when large quantities of gravel were needed for the Tutow airfield. During this dredging work, many relics of the campaign of the Great Elector of Brandenburg against Swedish Western Pomerania in 1675 were found. These included the graves of fallen soldiers and horse skeletons. The preserved uniform and harness parts, as well as weapons, enabled an unequivocal dating. Unfortunately, there was no detailed documentation of the finds at that time.
The resulting Kiessee, as it was called, was then the reason for setting up a holiday camp at the former fisherman's house in the 1970s and 1980s. After 1990 the camp was closed and then fell into disrepair. Today there are only ruins.

coat of arms
Blazon : “Divided by a wave cut; above, in blue, a golden tinned lock with two tinned towers, the left one higher than the right, with open windows; below in silver a green linden leaf. "
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Rügen graduate designer Jürgen Frenkel . It was approved together with the flag on January 12, 2018 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 364 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: The linden leaf stands for the second part of the community name, the district "Liepen". In 1328 the place was called Liepen "LYPA" , which means something like linden tree. The division of the coat of arms by a wavy line symbolizes the geographic location of the municipality on the Peene. The castle in the coat of arms stands for the first part of the community name, because in Neetzow there is a stately mansion, which is decorated with yellow clinker bricks. Today the Neetzow Castle is used as a hotel and restaurant. The tinging of the two coat of arms fields in blue and silver indicates that the municipality belongs to the western Pomerania region. |
flag
The flag is divided by a wave cut, evenly striped lengthways in blue and white. In the middle of the stripes are the figures of the municipal coat of arms: In the blue stripe there is a yellow lock with two tinned towers, the left one higher than the right, with open windows; a green linden leaf in the white stripe. The relation of the height of the flag cloth to the length is like 3: 5.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE NEETZOW-LIEPEN * LANDKREIS VORPOMMERN-GREIFSWALD".
