Kagenow Church

The Kagenow Church is a church building in the Kagenow district of the Neetzow-Liepen community . It belongs to the parish Liepen - Medow - Stolpe in the Provosty Pasewalk in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany . Until 2012 she belonged to the Greifswald parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .

The late medieval church with brick hall has stepped buttresses and a three-sided east end. Only later was the basement of the west tower made of field stone added. This is a roof tower with a square floor plan, arched sound openings and a baroque hood and was built in the first half of the 18th century. The remains of the plaster on the walls of the nave also date from this time. The windows are in ogival niches. A walled-up arched window is located above the ogival south portal and between two narrow niches with angled lintels. The north portal was blocked.

The interior of the hall church has a flat roof. Stepped shield arches are prepared to accommodate a vault. In the west wall there is a niche in which the granite - The bowl of a baptismal font is walled from the Middle Ages. Bench stalls and west gallery date from the 18th century.

The Kagenow Church was an independent parish church until the introduction of the Reformation in the Duchy of Pomerania . During the church visit of 1570 it was assigned to the Liepen church as a branch church .
