history

Panschow

Panschow was first mentioned in a document in 1403 as "Pantzkow". The name is not interpreted, it should be derived from a personal name.

According to PUM 1835, a Vorwerk was laid out in Panschow before 1835 . A post mill is also mentioned before 1835.

Sarnow

Sarnow Church

The area around Sarnow has several archaeological monuments that document a long settlement. This includes a primeval dolmen , a barren bed and a large stone grave from the Neolithic Age (5500 to 1800 BC) in the Sarnower Forest. There are also two barrows from the Bronze Age (1800 to 600 BCE).

Sarnow was first mentioned in 1235 as "Szarua", but in 1267 with the current name Sarnow . That means “black” or “deer” in Slavic.

A specialty in Sarnow is the church. In the elongated building, a church, a school and a poor house were united in one assembly. The churchyard is surrounded by a boulder wall.

The relatively large estate is only left in remnants, including the manor house and some farm buildings made of field stone with brick elements.

In 1840 a post office opened on the western edge of the village. The location was roughly halfway between Friedland and Anklam. In 1876 the agency was connected to a telegraph company so that phone calls could be made from Sarnow.

The place has been cut by the Peene South Canal since 1977. The canal, which is almost 27 kilometers long and an average of 20 meters wide, begins in Dersewitz, leads via Medow, Neuenkirchen, Sarnow to the Kavelpass in the local ditch. The canal is fed with water from the Peene and was used to irrigate around 10,000 hectares of arable land and grassland. The construction of the Peene-Südkanal was one of the most important renovation projects in the GDR . Irrigation, as an intensification factor, played a major role here.

Wusseken

North of Wusseken in the now flooded gravel mine was a large stone grave from the Neolithic (5500 to 1800 BCE), as early as 1931 a well-preserved double ax was found in the same open-cast mine, also from the Neolithic. There is a Slavic rampart southwest of the village , satellite images also suggest a rampart or a delimited settlement to the southeast. There are no signs of this above ground; archaeological evidence is still missing. All of these are evidence of early and continuous settlement.

Wusseken was first mentioned in a document as "Wocek" in 1243. The place is of Slavic origin. The place name is interpreted as “place protected by entanglement”, which can be associated with the proven and suspected archaeological rampart.

On July 1, 1950, Wusseken was incorporated.

The place is a street village with a small farm and several small farms.

Idasruh

This place is a former forest farm. The one-story forester's house was built around 150 years ago by Ernst Baron von Schimmelmann, forester for the Counts of Schwerin, father of Countess Ida von Schwerin, probably as a retirement home for her, hence the name. But the house was inhabited by the count's forester. The place was mainly called "Wendfeld". The term "Wendfeld" probably refers to the nearby and desolate former Vorwerk.

Wendfeld (desert)

There is said to have located an earlier Wendish village (pagus slavicalis), the 1570 waste has fallen. Wendfeld was first mentioned in 1698 as "Wentfelt". In 1738 the Vorwerk was built. In 1779 it was mentioned as "Charlottenlust or Wendfeld". It was a Vorwerk to Boldekow or Putzar and came as such to Sarnow in 1838.

The access road was cut off in the 1970s with the construction of the Peene South Canal and the residential area was given up. In the 21st century there is only an agricultural storage area.
