Stallberg is a district of the municipality Viereck of the office Uecker-Randow-Tal in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The name of the place is best known for the " Stallberg training site " located there.

geography

Stallberg is the westernmost part of the municipality Viereck. It consists of several small settlement units surrounded by woods, which are scattered in the meadow landscape on the east bank of the Uecker . To the southwest of the village, the river changes its course almost at right angles at one point; this distinctive bend in the water is already referred to in a book from the 19th century as “the swing”. At river kilometer 36.0 there is a weir in the Uecker .

Separated from the settlement by a wide forest belt, the large “Stallberg training area” and the Ernst-Thälmann settlement adjoin to the east .

history

In his three-volume work “Complete topographical dictionary of the Prussian state”, which was written in 1821, Johann Daniel Friedrich Rumpf describes Stallberg with its two districts, Groß- and Klein-Stallberg, as “Holländerei bei Torgelow in Pomerania”.
