Hugo Hoffmann (entrepreneur)
Hugo Hoffmann (born May 27, 1844 in Stuttgart , † December 24, 1911 in Berlin ) was a German entrepreneur.
Life
Hoffmann, the son of a craftsman in royal service, was trained as a pastry chef in Paris and, after his return to Germany in 1868 , set up a " pastry chef " in Berlin's Mohrenstrasse . First he made fondants and fruit pies, and since 1871 also chocolate and pralines . His efforts to take over a sales business were successful in 1878 with the acquisition of the Berlin "Confiseur-Waaren-Handlung Felix & Sarotti". From 1883 onwards, he and his business partner Paul Tiede produced more products in the south-west of Berlin. They have also been producing marzipan since 1889 and registered the name “ Sarotti ” as a trademark in 1893 - presumably with reference to the first company headquarters on Mohrenstrasse.
Hoffmann employed 1,000 people at the turn of the century. In 1903 he merged the companies "Felix & Sarotti" and "Hoffmann & Tiede" to form "Sarotti Chocoladen- und Cacao-Industrie AG" and finally acquired a large company site on the Teltow Canal , where the Sarotti Tempelhof factory was established in 1913 .
He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf in the department of C.
