Hugo Neumann (Lawyer)

Hugo Neumann (pseudonym: Felix Norbert ; born May 8, 1882 in Berent , West Prussia, † September 4, 1962 in Paris ) was a German lawyer and writer.

Life

Hugo Neumann studied law at the universities in Berlin , Königsberg and Heidelberg , where he became a doctor of law in June 1904 with a thesis on the "public law position of doctors". jur. PhD. He worked as a lawyer and notary in Gdansk until the 1930s . Politically, he was also active there as a liberal member of the Danzig People's Day and as an honorary senator . In 1926 he was part of the delegation of the Free City of Danzig to the League of Nations to negotiate the League of Nations loan .

In 1938 Neumann moved to Paris due to the growing influence of National Socialism on the government of the Free City of Danzig . After the Second World War, he worked from 1945 to 1948 as French legal advisor in the Allied Control Council in Berlin.

In Switzerland he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Internationale Treuhand AG from 1956.

Under the pseudonym Felix Norbert , Neumann published a volume with stories and a novel. He published a novella and his memoirs under his own name.
