Martin Kreidt

Martin Kreidt (* 1961 in Berlin ) is a German playwright and director .

Life

Martin Kreidt was born in Berlin in 1961, graduated from high school in Düsseldorf and studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart , and from 1988 directing at the University of Hamburg . Since 1985 Kreidt has been active in the field of children's and youth theater in Essen and Hamburg, leading theater projects with young people and the elderly and the like. a. at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, in the Ernst Deutsch Theater or the Kampnagel cultural center .

From 1992 onwards, Kreidt staged both his own and other plays at various theaters in Hamburg, Zurich, Braunschweig, Oldenburg, Travemünde, Stendal and Magdeburg and was represented at the Ruhrtriennale 2006 with the play Heinrich und Margarete , an arrangement by Johann Wolfgang von Goethes Faust for children, written together with Ute Rauwald. In the meantime he worked as a copywriter in advertising agencies. He was also a lecturer in directing and acting at the University of Hamburg and the Acting Academy in Zurich , and in 2001 he took up a visiting professorship at the University of Hamburg.

Kreidt directed various socially oriented theater projects such as the productions Gifted or Teufelspakt , a theater version of Christopher Marlowe's drama Tragicall History of Doctor Faustus , played by former junkies and performed at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg . Many of his productions use amateurs as actors, for example the project "Behind the Fences" at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, which was realized together with fans of the Hamburg sports club , which stages the life and everyday life of football fans.

Even as a young man, Kreidt gained an insight into the world of acting: while on vacation in Tunisia, he was hired as an extra by a US film production company. Martin Kreidt can be seen in a few scenes in the first part of the "Indian Jones" series " Raiders of the Lost Ark ", directed by Steven Spielberg .

Martin Kreidt is married and has two daughters. He lives in Hamburg.
