Hugo Waldeyer , from 1917, when his father was raised to hereditary nobility , von Waldeyer-Hartz (born November 7, 1876 in Strasbourg , † November 29, 1942 in Heidelberg ) was a German naval officer and writer.

Life

Hugo was the son of the anatomist and secret chief medical officer Heinrich Wilhelm Waldeyer . In 1893 he joined the Imperial Navy as a midshipman . From 1902 to 1904 he attended the Naval Academy and the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . From 1906 to 1908 he served on the admiralty staff. During the First World War he was active in the Reichsmarineamt from 1914 to September 1918. From September to November 10, 1918, he was in command of the ship of the line Schlesien , which served as a training ship , with which he sailed from Kiel on November 5, when the Kiel sailors' uprising broke out, and on the following day in Flensburg - Mürwik for the crew members who were committed to the revolution known, allowed to leave the ship, and then escaped with the rest of the crew, mostly sea ​​cadets , to Denmark and then to Swinoujscie , where the ship was decommissioned on November 10th. On November 24, 1919, Waldeyer-Hartz was released as a sea captain.

Most recently he was senior librarian and head of the library of the Reichswehr Ministry , and in 1930 he retired. In 1933 he received a teaching position for military science at the TH Hannover , in 1934 the same at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover . In 1939 he was appointed honorary professor.

Hugo von Waldeyer-Hartz was a corps bow bearer (1902) of Saxonia Kiel and a member of the Corps Normannia Berlin (1927). Saxonia later awarded him honorary membership. In 1929, he turned in the strongest against the county policy in Kösener Senioren-Convents-Verband .

Six more books followed in 1948. In the GDR, four more works were added to the list in 1953, including The Meuterei der Hochseeflotte in the 1922 edition.
