Hugues Aycelin
Hugues Aycelin OP (* around 1230 in Billom ; † December 28, 1297 in Rome ), called Hugues Seguin de Billay , was a French theologian and cardinal .
Life
Aycelin was a son of Pierre Aycelin , Dominican and master of theology. He taught from 1282 at the Jacobin monastery in the Rue Saint-Jacques in Paris , from 1287 at the convent of Santa Sabina in Rome . Hugues Aycelin became one of the closest advisers to Pope Nicholas IV. In 1288 Acelyn was elevated to cardinal, in 1295 he was given the rank of Cardinal Bishop of Ostia .
