history
The Hull Kingston Rovers were founded east of the city in 1882 and joined the Northern Union in 1897 . In the 1920s, the club experienced its first "Golden Era" with two triumphs each in the Rugby League Championship and the Yorkshire League . However, this was followed by a long dry spell without significant success, and it was not until 1979 that a national championship was won again. In 1980, the Rovers won the Challenge Cup for the first and only time by beating arch enemy Hull FC . In 1984 and 1985 there were further triumphs in the championship. The 1986 Yorkshire Cup is the club's last title to date. In 2015, Hull KR moved into the Challenge Cup final for the first time in 29 years, but had no chance against the Leeds Rhinos and lost 0:50.
