history

Founded in 1865, Hull Football Club was one of the first clubs in rugby football union based in the north of England. In 1895 one was a founding member of the Rugby Football League . In 1914, Hull won the first title with the Challenge Cup , followed by further significant successes in the national championship, the Yorkshire Cup and the Yorkshire League in the interwar period . Other successful periods marked the late 1950s with two championship titles and winning the European Club Championship and the early 1980s with successes in the championship, the Challenge Cup and three consecutive triumphs in the Yorkshire Cup.

Since the introduction of the Super League, Hull has usually been part of the solid midfield without really being able to compete with the top teams. The team experienced the most successful season in the recent past, when they were able to advance to the Grand Final after finishing second in the regular season , but were clearly defeated by the St Helens RLFC . In 2005, Hull also won the Challenge Cup with a 25:24 win over the Leeds Rhinos . Apart from the "substitute championship" in the Rugby League Premiership in 1991, the club has been waiting for the championship title since 1983.
