The Humffray River is a river in eastern Gippsland in the Australian state of Victoria .

It arises below Mount Selwyn at the confluence of the Humffray River East Branch and the Humffray River West Branch at an altitude of 564 m. The Humffray River East Branch is 9.8 km long and rises at the settlement of South Selwyn at an altitude of 852 m. The Humffray River West Branch is about 11.6 km long and has its source at an altitude of 1070 m.

The Humffray River flows south and joins the Wonnangatta River after 13.5 km .

On its way it takes up Riley Creek coming from the north.

The Humffray River and its headwaters and tributaries lie in largely uninhabited mountainous areas of the Great Dividing Range .
