Hyencourt-le-Grand (Picardy: Hyancourt-Grand) is a commune déléguée in the northern French commune of Hypercourt with 83 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Somme department in the Hauts-de-France region .

geography

The place is located in Santerre about 3.5 km east of Chaulnes . The A1 autoroute runs through the area in the west, the D45 département road in the north and the disused railway line from Saint-Just-en-Chaussée to Douai in the east.

history

A castle was built in the Middle Ages, the only remaining remainder of which is the Chapelle Saint-Léger (outside the soft area) built after the World Wars and which is still reminiscent of the name Sole du Château. In the community there was an underground hospital from the First World War .

Hyencourt-le-Grand was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Hyencourt-le-Grand , Omiécourt and Pertain were merged and have since formed the Commune nouvelle Hypercourt . The municipality of Hyencourt-le-Grand belonged to the Arrondissement of Péronne and the canton of Chaulnes .
